What is rosin?

Rosin is a cannabis product which can be extracted from many other forms of cannabis: dried flower, fresh frozen plants, hash, kief etc. The best variation of rosin is Live Hash Rosin, where rosin is extracted from hash made from fresh frozen cannabis plants. This process is thought to best capture the original flavour and effect from the plant material.

Rosin is made simply by applying high pressure and heat to trichomes from our cannabis products which causes rosin to ooze out of the product. The biggest bonus of this is that it requires no solvents, meaning we can yield an unadulterated full spectrum of flavourful terpenes and cannabinoids. No solvents also means we create a product much healthier for inhalation.

You can use a rosin press for this, shown in the image above, which is essentially just two heat plates attached to a high pressure vice, allowing us to simultaneously heat and press our product. This is a careful process and as the saying goes "you'll get out what you put in". Meaning that by starting with a higher quality product, we can press much better results.

How can I use rosin?

Dab/E-Rig

The best way to consume rosin is using a dab rig. This can be a jet lighter powered rig or an e-rig. An e-rig will allow for better temperature control, which is helpful as rosin is a delicate product.

To make your own high-quality live rosin cartridges, you need to decarb the cannabis concentrate slowly and carefully using only cannabis-derived ingredients—avoiding harmful additives like liquidizers or plastic syringes. The rosin needs decarbing as it requires heat in order to become the psychoactive THC we are after. After decarbing, transfer the oil into a warmed glass syringe, fill a cartridge slowly to avoid bubbles, and let it settle to ensure proper wicking before use, resulting in a safe, dispensary-level product.
